A CONTRACT to prepare bills of quantities for tendering contractors for the £8million extension and refurbishment of The Westgate School in Berkshire has been secured by Soben.

Construction of a two-storey extension and the erection of a new two-floor classroom block is due to start soon at the school in Slough.

The project will also include the provision of new car and cycle parking spaces, the creation of new pedestrian entrance and associated landscaping.

The school’s current capacity of 998 pupils will increase to 1350, alongside total of 196 teachers and 191 supporting staff, and project completion has been set for August, 2019,

Soben Managing Director Scott Smyth said: “This is a prestigious client with ambitions to create an educational space that is inspiring to young people and an asset to the local community.

“The school intends to create a safe and positive environment in which all students reach their true potential and feel prepared for future life through outstanding opportunities and personalised learning.”

This is the second education-based project secured by Soben in recent weeks, following the contract to prepare bills of quantities for Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus.
