Case Studies

We help our clients deliver projects across many sectors including the renewable energy, utility, gas and construction sectors.

From commercially managing the largest urban regeneration scheme in Scotland to the development of wind farms, our consultants are hand picked to ensure their experience fits with your requirements.

Commercial management of renewable energy portfolio

We were appointed to commercially manage a portfolio of renewable energy projects for our multi-national client.

Our scope was to review and improve management and reporting processes, in order to enable accurate cost-forecasting and reporting.

We offered input into the procurement process and successfully implemented strategies that resulted in more cost certainty, reduced changes and a marked reduction in time and cost claims.

Contract wrongly terminated

Our contractor client was carrying out a refurbishment project in London and was unable to complete its obligations under the contract due to insufficient information being provided by the contract administrator.

The administrator issued a notice terminating our client's employment under the contract and confirmed that others would be appointed to complete their work, with all costs to be recovered from our client.

Within seven days of our appointment, the contract administrator requested that our client consent to the reinstatement of the contract and confirmed that our client's costs (which included our fee) would be paid through the contract.

£50m efficiency improvement

We were commissioned to provide estimating services on a large tender for our client. The tender period was short and our client did not have the resources available to prepare and deliver the complex bid in the timescale available.

We were in our client's premises the day following our commission and immediately put in place a strategy for the preparation of the tender submission and detailed estimates required.

The bid was submitted on time and our client secured the contract to provide energy efficiency improvement works worth £50million over a three-year period.

Cash flow benefit for plc subsidiary

A subsidiary of Cape plc was supported by Soben, who carried out a highly successful forensic review of invoices and associated material.

The outcome prompted high praise from a senior member of the management team at Cape Industrial Services Ltd, who are based in Dyce, near Aberdeen.

He said: "Soben supported us during the period October 2015 to March 2016. Their role included carrying out a forensic review of a high volume of historical invoices and supporting data to identify any errors, discrepancies and anomalies. "Liaising with our internal team, they investigated and resolved issues identified which had a significant benefit to our cash flow and year-end work in progress position. Soben then made recommendations to refine our processes going forward.

"We were delighted with the service provided and we would have no hesitation in using their services again in the future."
