Pre-Contract Services

We have a team of more than 40 quantity surveyors providing Pre-Contract services to clients, preparing bills of quantities for tendering and estimating purposes.

We only prepare bills of quantities for contractors, which means that our business is set up to accommodate the tight deadlines that tender periods require.

Since January 2016, we have prepared bills of quantities for contractors on projects with a combined value of around £1billion (£125million per month approximately).

The bills are prepared by experienced quantity surveyors – we ensure the bills reflect the actual activities and items that will be required to construct the project. Our bespoke QA process means that we constantly cross-check and verify our submissions and add pricing points where appropriate to assist the estimator.

As standard, we prepare an NBS clause utilisation report to identify specification items that do not appear in the design information to enable queries to be raised, to qualify a tender or enable a risk/opportunity judgement to be made.

We will endeavor to identify gaps and conflicts in the design information to help give you a tendering competitive edge and/or provide you with potential post-contract opportunities.

Soben will pro-actively suggest alternative specifications or design solutions where possible. We will also liaise with your internal technical advisors and delivery teams, providing added-value commercial input.

Bills are prepared to follow the Contract Sum Analysis headings provided in the tender enquiry, enabling easy future completion by the estimator.

Bills are exported in Excel or CITE format for direct import into your estimating package; Using our proprietary software,

We can allocate trades if required to each bill item, enabling prompt preparation of sub-contractor enquiries.

As we specialise in supporting contractors, we are adequately resourced to meet tight tender period deadlines.
