SOBEN’S expertise is helping one of the main contractors bidding to create a revolutionary new designer outlet village.

The company is providing Bills of Quantities on the £110 million Mill Green premium retail destination in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, which has sustainability at its heart.

Construction is due to begin in Autumn 2017 on the first of two phases, which will feature 80 shops, restaurants, cinema, 2,000 car parking spaces and heritage trail within a beautifully landscaped development next to the Mill Green Nature Reserve, not far from the M6 Toll.

Phase two of the development – all of which is a single-level design to reflect and respect the natural environment – will bring a further 50 outlets, with a completion date set for autumn 2021.

At 26,505 sq metres, Mill Green will cover an area the size of six football pitches and will feature upmarket, premium fashion designer brands not normally found in local town centres.

It is expected to attract about three million visitors each year and create more than 1,000 jobs as well as acting as a catalyst for further investment in the area.

The developers are U+I and Rioja Developments, who have scheduled an opening date of spring 2019 for the village.

They are promising it will be a “designer outlet village that looks and feels like no other”.

And they pledge: “We’re going beyond the conventions of ethics and sustainability to construct a well considered, environmentally sensitive designer outlet.”

The Bills of Quantities supplied by Soben will allow the main contractor to submit an accurate, competitive tender to the developers.
