Celebrating Soben’s Commitment to Mexico

9th March 2023

Clients, friends and industry partners got together in the Mexican city of Querétaro this week to celebrate Soben’s commitment to the region.

The event, held in downtown Querétaro, was held to mark the formal creation of Soben’s business entity in Mexico. Industry leaders from across the region were joined by representatives from Soben including Founder & CEO, Scott Smyth; Mexico Country Director, Marco Mora; and CEO Americas, Joe Cusick, for an evening of networking and celebration.

As part of the company’s rapid global expansion, Soben launched its operations in the Americas in 2021, serving clients across North America, Mexico and Chile, and led by CEO Joe Cusick. Soben identified the city of Querétaro as the perfect base for its local operations.

Recognizing the huge growth potential in Mexico, and particularly the Querétaro region, Soben has formed a talented local team with impressive regional experience and is starting to build a strong presence in Mexico. Combining deep local knowledge with Soben’s global reputation and expertise – particularly in industrial development and data centre construction – Soben aims to become the go-to consultancy in the region.

To reinforce this ambition and commitment to the region, Soben hired Country Director, Marco Mora, in August 2022. Well known in the local market, Marco joined Soben from CBRE, where he led a project management team that handled large corporate construction projects.

He has 30 years of experience in the construction industry working for global organisations throughout Mexico and the US. Marco has overseen more than 80 industrial and commercial projects relating to renewable energy and sustainability developments.

Long history of collaboration

The event was an opportunity to reinforce Soben’s commitment to Mexico, and the city of Querétaro. As one of the fastest growing industrial hubs in the country, Querétaro is ripe with opportunity. Country Director, Marco Mora, recognized the long collaboration between British and Mexican workers starting with the construction of the Mexican railroad, which generated enormous transformation and industrial growth in Mexico.

Marco spoke about the continued transformation of the region that began 200 years ago, spearheaded by the Industrial Developers, General Contractors, Government Officials, Industrial Real Estate Brokers and Quantity Surveyors present.

Soben aims to put down firm roots in Mexico, teaming up with partners across the industry to support the development of the region on the world stage. Combining the best consultancy practices with hands-on experience managing complex construction projects, Soben is well-positioned to support partners across the region.

Soben works with the world’s leading organisations supporting them with the delivery of their large, complex or time critical projects through our cost, risk, schedule and project management services. The size of our business means that we can quickly adopt global best practice, support this with local expertise and ensure that our clients receive the absolute commitment and attention from our leadership team.

Speaking at the event, Soben Founder and CEO, Scott Smyth said:

“We share your excitement and ambition for this region. We look forward to helping Querétaro grow, reach its full potential and support you to maximise the opportunities that are being created.  We are very proud to call Querétaro our home in Mexico.”
