What’s it like to work at Soben? We spoke to Nathalie Kulaskinghe, a Quantity Surveyor for Soben’s EMEA operations team based in Sri Lanka.
A graduate of Sri Lanka College of Technology, Nathalie joined Soben 4 years ago as a Quantity Surveyor, specialising in Civils and MEP. Here’s what she told us about a typical day for her at Soben Sri Lanka.
Tell us about your role at Soben
As a Quantity Surveyor, my main role is to provide high-quality service to our clients in the preparation of Bills of Quantities – meeting their requirements while achieving deadlines.
What does a typical working day look like for you?
I start every day by planning my day’s work, discussing any challenges with project leadership. In a high pressure environment, I need to stay organized to ensure we achieve our targets on time, every time. Hence, I always try to plan and manage my day by prioritizing work as per the business need.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Soben family?
As a family, we all work together and help each other. That is what I enjoy the most at Soben. Working together means that I’m still continuously learning, which is so valuable to my own personal development.
What are your career goals over the next 12-18 months?
I am happy with my current position here. In my role at Soben I’m continuing to learn new things every day, so that I can deliver bills that make our clients happy.
How do you unwind from a busy week at work?
I love listening to music at the end of a long day. My favourite songs always help me unwind . At the weekends, I enjoy getting together with family and friends.
How would your colleagues describe you?
I think they would find me as a very supportive and motivated individual. They know that I always try to do my best for my colleagues.
