Soben Chairman Paul Moultrie has returned to Scotland after a successful trip to Thailand, where he represented his golf club Royal Troon at the World Club Championship and at the same time flew the flag for the company.
He and team mate Michael Smyth finished mid-table at the end of the six-day amateur tournament at the Ayodhya Links, near Bangkok.
He said: “We had fantastic experience representing Royal Troon – and while our golf left us in a mid-table finish position, the tournament, camaraderie, friendship, hospitality and the world-class experience that we enjoyed will leave us with memories that will last a lifetime.
“It has been an honour and a privilege to have participated in the World Club Championship’s on behalf of Royal Troon.
“Hopefully we will have the opportunity of competing again, before I become too old!
“My congratulations go to Portmarnock Golf Club from Ireland for a great win, with a young team of two outstanding golfers and really nice guys.”
On December 1, 2016, we revealed that Paul, who is a former club champion at Royal Troon, would take part in the world-renowned tournament that sees 24 clubs from 15 countries send two-man teams to compete in a spirit of “camaraderie and hearty competition”.
We also provided updates on his progress as he contacted colleagues back in Scotland.
