Soben, alongside UTC Heathrow and Partners are proud to have won the Best Talent Developer at the Data Centre World awards 2023.

Data Centre World is an annual conference bringing together the UK’s largest data centre leaders and end-users. With more than 7 million facilities worldwide, the demand shows no sign of slowing down.

Taking place at the ExCel London on March 8th – 9th 2023, the conference also involved the prestigious Data Centre World awards, which took place in the afternoon of March 8th. This was the third year of the awards, which celebrates Data Centre Innovation and Excellence.

UTC Heathrow and Partners; Soben, Net Training, Virtus Data Centres, CyrusOne, CBRE, Amazon Web Services (AWS), LMG, ARK Data Centres, Yondr and Kao Data, were nominated and went on to win the award for Best Talent Developer.

Through collaboration and hard-work, UTC Heathrow and Partners came up with an education programme that makes young people aware of the variety of careers available and trains them in the skills they need to succeed.

In November 2022, Soben launched Shaping Futures, a new global corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. The CSR programme will allow employees to engage in environmental, educational and social-focused projects that will make a positive difference to the local communities. The Shaping Futures programme consists of newly created CSR projects, such as the collaboration with UTC Heathrow and Partners.

After the win, Managing Director of Soben, Derek McFarlane was among the partners who went up to collect the award. He later went on to say “This is a fantastic win for all involved, particularly UTC and their students. The hard work, time invested, and dedication was worth it – to see everyone come up and accept this win with such excitement, pride and joy means so much. I’m very proud and thoroughly looking forward to seeing where this partnership goes next”.

The award recognises the school’s Digital Futures programme – a UK-first engineering and IT curriculum which launched in November 2021, designed to help combat a skills gap in the digital infrastructure industry.
