Sustainable shift

Soben played a key role in supporting the delivery of this £300 million project, where clinicians and cancer researchers are co-located with physicists, engineers, mathematicians and computational scientists, to create innovative approaches that will dramatically improve patient care.

The Soben team prepared the whole-life carbon assessment to support the tendering process for the proposed RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Stage 3 development. The new development is set to be the first hospital delivered in the East of England as part of the UK Government’s ‘New Hospital Programme’.

The ‘New Hospital Programme’ was set up in 2020 to build 40 new hospitals in England by 2030. With £3.7 billion in funding to March 2025, more is set to be given to 2030.
